Repeated questions in one place for readers and for search engines. Longer answers live in the chapters.

Does this site sell cigars?

No. There is no cart and no shop link. It is a static encyclopedia.

May people under 18 read it?

The almanac is written for adults. Tobacco should not be promoted to minors.

Are cigars safer than cigarettes?

No. Keeping smoke out of the lungs is not the same as harmless. Tobacco is addictive and linked to serious disease.

Can I keep cigars without a humidor?

A sealed bag and a humidity pack work for a short time, not for years. See the storage chapter.

Is Cuba always the best?

No. Cuba has a distinct tradition. The New World has classics of its own. Blend, storage, and your palate decide.

Why do prices differ so much?

Tax, freight, scarcity, brand positioning, and speculation. This site only gives approximate bands.

Is white dust mold?

It may be oil bloom or mold. Fuzzy growth that smells and spreads should be treated as mold.

What should I smoke first?

A short, mild-to-medium cigar after a meal—often a Connecticut-wrapped robusto. Do not start with the strongest flagship.
