Cigars from light to dark wrappers. Color is not the same as strength.
Cigars from light to dark wrappers. Color is not the same as strength.

Strength usually means nicotine and physical weight. Body is texture. Flavor intensity is how loud the taste is. A cigar can be flavorful and not dizzying, or dull and still heavy.

  1. Mild — Connecticut Shade, some Hoyo de Monterrey, Macanudo Café. Good for learning the cut and the light.
  2. Medium — many daily Cubans and Dominican classics.
  3. Medium-full — many Nicaraguan house lines.
  4. Full — Bolívar, LFD Double Ligero, some Padrón. Eat first.
Strength labels on brand pages are public-style summaries, not laboratory milligrams, and not scores.

Sweat, nausea, and a racing pulse mean put it down. Sugar helps some people. The better prevention is food, no lung inhale, and a short vitola when you try a new house.
