Dominican Republic

In the late twentieth century the Dominican Republic took in Cuban exile skill and U.S. demand. Santiago de los Caballeros grew a factory belt. The Cibao grows domestic leaf. Ecuador, Cameroon, and Connecticut wrappers arrive for international blends.
The old export image was mild, clean, and nutty—Macanudo and some Davidoff lines. Later La Flor Dominicana and heavier Fuente lines showed the island can also pack ligero.
“Dominican cigar” often means Dominican rolling plus leaves from several countries. That is normal modern blending. All-island leaf is advertised when it is the point.
