Nicaragua

Nicaragua’s cigar story broke in the 1970s and 1980s, then returned in the 1990s. In about two decades it became the usual name for a full, peppery cigar.
- Estelí — factory town; earth and pepper in much of the local leaf.
- Jalapa — often described as sweeter and more aromatic; used as wrapper or for lift.
- Condega — in between, depending on the plot.
Those contrasts are experience, not a lab proof. Mild leaf grows in the same departments.
Houses such as Padrón, Oliva, My Father, and A.J. Fernández sit in Estelí. Many small U.S. brand names are rolled in a handful of those factories.
