Leaf is organic. Too dry and it cracks and burns hot. Too wet and it sulks, will not light, or grows mold. A humidor holds a small climate still.

Many people keep about 62–70% relative humidity and about 18–21°C. The old 70/70 slogan (70% RH, 70°F) still circulates; some collectors now prefer the mid-60s to lower beetle risk. Stability beats a sacred decimal.

  • Season a new wooden box or dry cedar will drink the cigars’ moisture.
  • Calibrate cheap analog hygrometers. They are often wrong.
  • Two-way packs or distilled water systems both work. Avoid tap water.
  • No sun, no kitchen grease, no household fridge. A fridge is too cold and too dry.

Tobacco beetles hatch when it is too warm and wet. White dust may be oil bloom or mold. Mold is fuzzy, smells, and spreads. Isolate anything doubtful.

A sealed bag and a small humidity pack is a travel fix, not a cellar.
