Cuba

In popular culture Cuba almost equals the cigar. More precisely: the northwest tobacco districts plus Havana’s rolling tradition shaped what people mean by a Havana cigar. After 1959 the industry was nationalized. Exile brands reused old names abroad.
Leaf districts
- Vuelta Abajo (Pinar del Río): the core name for fine wrapper and filler.
- Semi Vuelta: nearby; different leaf; used in some blends.
- Partido: historically known for wrapper.
- Vuelta Arriba / Remedios: toward the center of the island; often coarser uses.
Style, with caution
Cuban leaf is often described as earth, wood, leather, and fermented sweetness, with a fine ash. Climate, fertilizer, and quality control vary by year. This almanac does not say Cuba is always first or always fallen. Box variation exists everywhere.
Flagship names include Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, and Partagás. Filter the register by Cuba.
