How to light

A good light is a toast, not a blowtorch through the core. Hold the foot above the flame, turn it until the rim glows, then draw the heat in. Shoving the cigar into the fire leaves a bitter char.
- Cedar spill — classical, no fuel taste; needs another flame first.
- Long match — wait until the sulfur head is gone.
- Butane torch — useful in wind; too close blackens the wrapper. Use clean butane.
- Petrol lighter — the smell contaminates the cigar.
Look at the foot. If one side is dark and one side is raw, the burn will tunnel. Toast the slow side to even it.
