Chapter XI
Drink pairings

Pairing is a game, not an exam. Mild with mild, full with full—or use sweetness and cold to cut heat and bitterness.
| Drink | Often sits well with | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Black coffee, espresso | Medium to full | Roast overlaps; caffeine plus nicotine is a lot |
| Black tea, rock tea | Mild to medium | A daily Hong Kong-friendly choice |
| Whisky (sweeter sherry casks) | Medium-full | Heavy peat can bury a mild cigar |
| Rum, port, sherry | Maduro, full cigars | Sweetness near fermentation notes |
| Dry sparkling wine | Mild Connecticut | Acid clears the mouth |
| Water, sparkling water, barley tea | Any | Hydration; may ease dizziness |
Alcohol widens blood vessels and can sharpen a nicotine spin. This almanac does not encourage drinking and offers no wine-shop links.
